Our Mission
Our mission is to illuminate the path toward healing, growth, and resilience through evidence-based geriatric mental health care integrated with a deep respect for the human spirit.
Meet the providers
Aurelia Behavioral Health was founded by husband and wife team, Nicholas and Caitlin Armao, who share a vision of bringing compassionate, insight-driven mental health care to nursing homes and assisted living centers.
With a strong background in psychiatry, psychology, and long-term care/assisted living environments, we vow to provide mental health care with dignity, respect, resilience, and transformative goals.
Caitlin C. Armao, MSN, PMHNP
A Berks County native, born and raised, Caitlin began her career in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where she first discovered her deep passion for caring for others, particularly the elderly. Those early experiences at the bedside shaped not only her clinical foundation, but also her belief that compassion, dignity, and human connection are central to healing.
Motivated by her love for working with older adults and her desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, she pursued a career in nursing, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and later a Registered Nurse (RN). Throughout her nursing career, she worked in a wide range of long-term care and psychiatric settings across the country, gaining broad clinical experience and a deep understanding of mental health across the lifespan.
Her genuine joy in brightening someone’s day, listening to their story, and forming meaningful therapeutic relationships ultimately led her to advance her education and become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Today, she brings together clinical expertise, empathy, and a person-centered approach to provide thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care.
Now raising her family in Berks County, she is proud to continue serving the community that shaped her. Caitlin combines professional excellence with a heartfelt commitment to helping individuals feel seen, heard, and supported.

Nicholas Armao
Nicholas is a Berks County native and dual-trained licensed professional counselor and psychiatric nurse practitioner. He is dedicated to providing thoughtful, individualized mental health care with a strong focus on long-term care and assisted living populations, while also supporting adults across the lifespan.
His career in mental health began with psychotherapy, where he developed a deep appreciation for listening carefully, building trust, and understanding the full context of a person’s emotional and psychological experience. Over time, his clinical work with older adults and medically complex patients led him to pursue advanced training as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. He offers evidence-based medication management with psychotherapeutic principles.
He has a special passion for working with residents in nursing homes, assisted living, and long-term care settings, including individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, dementia-related behavioral symptoms, and life-transition stressors. His approach emphasizes conservative, thoughtful medication use, gradual dose reductions when appropriate, and close collaboration with nursing staff, families, and interdisciplinary care teams.
As someone born and raised in Berks County and now raising his family here, he values providing care that is local, consistent, and relationship-driven. He strives to create treatment plans that are realistic, respectful, and aligned with each individual’s goals, values, and quality of life. It is a privilege to serve individuals and families in his community and to support emotional well-being at every stage of life.
